Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus (UofT)

In 2003, the Orphan Sponsorship Program at University of Toronto was launched, aiming to bring awareness to the situation of orphans and fundraise to sponsor orphans, trying to do what we can in helping out our global family, in the hopes of giving these kids a better life & future. The orphans are sponsored through Govt. of Canada registered charities and the donation covers education, health, food, shelter and other basic necessities for the orphans.

Since then, our efforts have simply been blessed:

Accumulatively in just 6 years, we’ve fundraised over $260,000!

This will enable us to annually sponsor over 130 orphans from overĀ 20 countries, spanning 4 continents

This is a very blessed and amazing achievement particularly as the OSP is entirely a voluntary student initiative. Our aim is to continue to help the orphans all over the world, to the best of our abilities year after year.

We hope to achieve our aim by also encouraging and aiding others to start up similar orphan sponsorship initiatives at their university, school, campus, association, community, etc.

Please note: Following our success, many other University & High School campuses as well as other Youth groups all over North America, have initiated similar campaigns. A number of them are using the acronym (OSP) or even calling themselves the ‘Orphan Sponsorship Program’. Our hearts go out to such campaigns, as such initiatives could further help make a positive difference in the lives of orphans, but we would like to point out that all such student groups, fundraising programs and initiatives are entirely not connected, not related and have no affiliation at all with the Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) that began at University of Toronto St. George Campus. We kindly request such other intiatives to clearly identify themselves as being distinct from our original and independent program so as to avoid any confusion, thank you.

    Hello,

My name is Osman Khan, currently a student at the University of Calgary. I have been working with Calgary’s “Oprhan Sponsorship Program” for the last 3 years, which was originally created about 8 years ago. We have done some great work within our city, and now have branched on to become a Student’s Union club; Orphan Sponsorship Program University of Calgary Chapter. I would just like to know with whom are you affiliated with? Above it was written that you work with a few national charities that are recognized by the Government of Canada, which ones if you dont mind. Also I would to ask if you would mind if both organizations could team up to learn from each other and possibly host a huge event for our both organizations. I hope to hear from you soon. Take Care.

    Sincerely,

    Osman Khan
