OSP’s Annual Fundraising Dinner 2011
The Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus was launched in 2003 with the aim of making a positive difference in the lives of orphans around the globe. In the past years, the OSP has fundraised over $250,000, enabling us to currently annually sponsor over 133 orphans from 22 different countries, spanning 4 continents, Masha’Allah (God has willed it).
This year OSP is proud to host its Annual Fundraising Dinner to continue providing necessities for orphans worldwide.
What: OSP Annual Fundraising Dinner
When: Friday, March 11, 2011 from 5 pm – 9:30 pm

GOALS AND ACHIEVEMENTS of Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus (UofT)
October 2, 20101) Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus (UofT) is an ongoing completely volunteer student initiative currently annually sponsoring over 130 orphans from over 20 different countries, spanning 4 continents. We sponsor the orphans from Government of Canada registered charities. OSP in its seventh year has accummulatively fundraised over $300,000. In 2003, OSP at UofT began with the hopes of fundraising to sponsor orphans from underprivileged countries around the world and making a positive difference in their lives.
Donations are collected year-round and cover education, health, food, shelter, and other basic necessities for the orphans.
OSP’s aim is to continue to help the orphans all over the world, to the best of our abilities year after year.
OSP is not limited to University of Toronto. We have been getting volunteers and donations from across Canada and USA. Donors can receive Canadian tax receipt for their donation upon request. The 3 methods of payments are: Cheque, online via PayPal (via OSP site), and Cash.

3) OSP’s achievements, work, and updates have been featured in various media (i.e. many newspapers/magazines, radio, etc.) in Canada and USA, including Toronto Star newspaper, ISNA’s magazine, and The Newspaper (UofT’s newspaper). Being featured in the media helps to further increase awareness, volunteers, and donations for the OSP/orphans.
4) We hope to achieve our aim by also encouraging and aiding others to start up similar orphan sponsorship initiatives at their university, school, campus, association, community, etc.
For example, OSP has helped, assisted, encouraged universities and high schools in North America to start their own initiative of sponsoring orphans, including ISNA High School, UTM, UTSC, Ryerson, University of Waterloo, University of Texas, McMaster.
On January 15th, 2010, OSP at UofT was invited to speak at ISNA High School (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada), to encourage and aid the school to start a similar orphan sponsorship initiative. OSP’s second visit to ISNA High School was on May 7th, 2010, where OSP also presented awards to recognize and appreciate the school’s achievement in fundraising over $1,800 towards having their own program of sponsoring orphans like OSP at UofT.

The OSP at UofT aims to maintain a rapport with the children we are sponsoring by signing Greeting Cards and sending Gifts to them, and we want you to be a part of this wonderful relationship!
Come and join us for a delightful afternoon of Fun, a chance to win Prizes, and to put smiles on the faces of orphan children from around the world!
There’ll be poster displays & information booth about the OSP.

Urgent Appeal for Donations – Have not raised enough to re-sponsor all orphans
September 1, 2010**Please spread the word to everyone you know and donate generously!**
Peace be upon you,
As the last few days of Ramadan (Month of Fasting) are approaching what better way of taking the benefits of these important days than by helping an orphan.
The Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus (UofT) is sponsoring 131 orphans from over 20 countries Alhamdulillah but so far, we’ve only raised enough to re-sponsor around 12 orphans out of the 131 and we need your help to help the orphans. We now require around $55,000 to re-sponsor the remaining 119 orphans for another year, so help us continue this entirely volunteer student initiative & for it to never end Insha’Allah!
Please donate generously to help those kids who have no one else. If you have already sent in your donations, then Jazak Allahu Khairan and please spread the word, telling others to donate (The one who tells others to do good will be rewarded as the doer of the good!)

ISNA High School fundraises over $1,800 to start their own orphan sponsorship initiative like OSP at UofT – Event Summary with Pictures

Second Visit to ISNA High School for Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) at the University of Toronto, St. George (Downtown) Campus (UofT) on Friday, May 7th, 2010. Masha’Allah.
After OSP’s Jan 15th, 2010 Visit to ISNA High School (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) to encourage and aid their high school students to start a similar orphan sponsorship initiative, OSP visited the school again on May 7th, 2010 to present awards to recognize and appreciate the school’s achievement for fundraising over $1,800 towards having their own program of sponsoring orphans like OSP at UofT. Currently, they have begun with sponsoring 4 orphans (1 from Palestine, 1 from Pakistan, 1 from Kashmir, and 1 from Somalia). Allahu Akbar.
Sarah Khan (OSP 09-10 Co-Head Coordinator) and Asna Ahmad (OSP 09-10 Senior Advisor) visited ISNA High School on May 7th, 2010.
The OSP team would like to convey A Special Thank You and Jazak Allahu Khairan to Mrs. Syma Daimee (Asna’s mother) for being at ISNA High School with us, for helping and supporting us on January 15th and May 7th visits.
Like the January 15th visit, the May 7th visit was also very successful. Alhamdulillah. ISNA High School’s students and staff attended the OSP at UofT Presentation and Awards Assembly on May 7th. The staff and students at ISNA High School are very happy to have their own orphan sponsorship program and they hope to continue this initiative every year. Insha’Allah

ORPHAN AWARENESS WEEK 2010 – Orphan Sponsorship Program (OSP) at University of Toronto, St. George Campus

From Friday, March 26th, 2010 – Thursday, April 1st, 2010 is Orphan Awareness Week, held by the Orphan Sponsorship Program at University of Toronto (OSP). OSP poster displays, information booths, and fundraising are part of this week. All proceeds will support the 131 orphans in 22 countries sponsored by the OSP at UofT.

2) Along with some high schools, OSP has also helped universities across Canada and USA to start their own orphan sponsorship initiatives, Masha’Allah.
OSP has been educating students and the community about the plight of the orphans by means of talks, seminars, emails, posters, and annual events (including bake sales, information booths, fundraising dinner, video game tournament events, sending letters/cards/gifts to the orphans, and visiting the orphans in person), Alhamdulillah.
3) On Friday, January 15th, 2010, OSP at UofT was invited to speak at ISNA High School (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) to encourage and aid the high school students to start their own orphan sponsorship initiative.
Daanish Afzal (OSP Co-Head Coordinator), Sarah Khan (OSP Co-Head Coordinator), and Asna Ahmad (OSP Senior Advisor) visited ISNA High School.
The OSP team would like to convey A Special Thank You and Jazak Allahu Khairan to Mrs. Syma Daimee (Asna’s mother) for being at ISNA High School with us, for helping and supporting us on Fri. Jan. 15th, 2010.
It was a very successful event. The staff and students at ISNA High School greatly appreciated and enjoyed OSP at UofT Presentation and OSP Information Booth in ISNA school’s Gym. ISNA High School is very enthusiastic in starting their own orphan sponsorship initiative like OSP at UofT. Allahu Akbar!
